Random Winter Pics

Thank you for your patience! It's so hard for me to sit at the computer and update the blog when I could be outside enjoying the summer weather! BUT... I am trying to back-track a little bit so I can get caught up. Here are a few more pictures I wanted to post from the winter months...check back for more! Spring and Summer pictures coming SOON!


All winter, Kade was very adamant about mastering the scooter! He LOVES riding it, but even more so when he can do it by himself! He finally got it down around March...Good job Kade!


Kanigh and Kade in the wonderful wagon that we take EVERYWHERE! (thank you AGAIN, Nonnie and Grampa :) This is one of our many trips up to the mail box.



The boys LOVE to help me in the kitchen, so one night a week, they get their chance to choose the menu and "make" a dinner! Here they are making their world-famous personal pizzas! (Kade mostly just likes to eat the toppings...:)

One night around 11 o'clock, I heard the boys giggling quite loudly in their room. They were SUPPOSED to be asleep hours before, so I knew they had to be up to no-good!When I went to see what was going on, I took my camera...just in case!
I opened the door, and there they were in a big pile of books...sitting with the closet light on, "reading" to each other. I LOVE that they enjoy books! I couldn't help but smile...

"When I grow up..."

I love MANY things about little ones...and among the top of the list are PRACTICALITY in what they do and FEARLESSNESS in what they dream. In the following conversation with Kanigh, you will see a little of both.

Me: "So, Kanigh, what do you want to be when you are a grown up?"
Kanigh: "You mean, when I am a tall man?"
Me: "Yes, what is it that you want to do for your job?"
Kanigh: "I want to be a doctor!"
Me: "A doctor? Why a doctor?"
Kanigh: "So I can make people happy when they don't feel happy and so I can help them get better when they are sick."
Me: "What will you do to make them feel better?"
Kanigh: "Well, first they need a hug, and then I would give them a kiss where it hurts! But, if they are REALLY sad, I will give them a big band-aid..."
Me: "Wow, Kanigh, that is perfect! You will be a GREAT doctor!"
Kanigh: "Mommy?"
Me: "Yes?"
Kanigh: "Are you a doctor?"
Me: "Sometimes."
Kanigh: "I thought so."

My little "snowmen"...

Kanigh and Kade absolutely loved experiencing all the joys of SNOW this winter! We made SO MUCH "Snow Ice Cream" that we got sick of it...(didn't think I could ever get sick of "Snow Ice Cream"..). We loved going out in the snow to play in it, but the whole process of layering the boys to go out got old really fast! I had to give major props to my sister, Allison, for doing it for so long up in Alaska with her little ones. Quick trips to ANYWHERE are non-existent, that is for sure! So, when we did go out in it, I made sure they got their fill because once the layers came off, they weren't going back on! :)

Winter in Ohio...Ice and snow and ice and snow!!

As soon as we got back from Christmas break in Nevada, the COLD really hit Ohio. Now, remember that we spent the last two winters in Houston, Texas...where you really only need a light jacket in the winter-time, if anything at all. SO...we really weren't prepared for what hit us, especially in the clothing department! Thank goodness for our emergency preparedness and our fireplace, because we were actually snowed in for a couple of days with the power going in and out. School was canceled for me for a whole week which ended up being a good thing, since I couldn't even get out of the driveway due to a tree that had fallen over from the weight of the ice on the branches! Each time it snowed, it would melt down for an afternoon, freeze that night, and then snow again on top of the ice. So, for a couple of weeks we had layer upon layer of ice. It was DEFINITELY a new experience for me! The boys thought it was fun, especially during the nights we spent in front of the fireplace with marshmallows and hotdogs on our sticks! :)

Out of the mouth of....Kanigh...

Kanigh has become quite the conversationalist over the past couple of months and you NEVER know what he is going to come up with next! I absolutely LOVE it, so I am always trying to ask him questions just to see what he will respond with. Most of the time, they are silly questions with no real answer, and now and then I will ask a "real" question. Just to give you an idea of what I am talking about, here is an example of a conversation we had just the other evening after dinner...

ME: WOW Kanigh! Your belly is SOOO big! Wait, let me see if I can hear a baby in there...YEP! I can hear the baby in your belly! You didn't tell me you were having a baby!!

KANIGH: (in a VERY matter-of-fact tone) Mommy, I'm NOT having a baby! That's just food!

ME: What kind of food is in there?

KANIGH: Well...it's just a bunch of vegetables...

ME: Really? Why just vegetables?

KANIGH: Because I am a big boy now and you said they make me big and strong!

ME: Oh, I see...does Kade have vegetables in his belly too?

KANIGH:(very serious face) No, he's just a baby...he has pancakes.

ME: LAUGHING!

Diaper Wedgie...?

Kade woke up one morning in December with quite a lop-sided back-side and I couldn't figure out why... Well I took off his pajamas, and there it was...a diaper wedgie. Now, maybe I am just not as knowledgeable about the different positions a diaper can end up in over the course of a good-night's-sleep as I should be because I have DEFINITELY never seen this one before! I am surprised I could hold still long enough to get a good snap-shot of it, as I was laughing HYSTERICALLY! Poor little Kade and his one cute lil 'cheek'... don't ever tell him I posted this on here... he might be a little upset. :)

"Kade Faces"

I love the many stages of growth in little ones, but as I have watched the boys grow so quickly, the toddler stage has really become a favorite. Kade is definitely a busy little boy, and has developed quite a personality of his own. Anyone who has ever been around him for a little while would definitely agree that he is one of the most expressive one-year-olds you can find! He isn't a man of very many words, but you can sure tell what he is thinking by the look on his face! This blog is dedicated to the many many expressions you can find on this cutie-pie at any given moment... ENJOY! :)

Kanigh's Gymnastics Class

This winter I found a fun way for Kanigh to expend some of his PLENTIFUL energy... a gymnastics program for youth in one of the neighboring communities! The kids can start at age 2 in a basic tumbling class, and go on from there. It's a fun way for lil' guys and gals to learn how to control their movements, strengthen their core muscles, and gain better balance. They have them walking on the balance beams, jumping on the olympic size trampolines, climbing rope walls and swinging around on the bars! They also teach basic tumbling like cart-wheels and summersalts. It's only one night a week, but it is definitely something Kanigh looks forward to! Here are some pictures from when he started the class in December and January.

My mom and I loaded up the boys and headed over to Austin, Nv to meet Meghan's family for church. Here is a picture of Meghan and I...(and Morgan):).
